QuickBooks comes in many “flavors” – Pro, Premier, Online Edition, Mac, and Enterprise.

At some point in a business’ growth, they usually need to upgrade their accounting system to handle the changes occurring in their business.  The most common upgrade is from Pro/Premier to Enterprise.  Here are the top reasons businesses use QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions:

•You have more than 3 people that need access to QuickBooks.

•Your Data File size > 150mb. (Pro/Premier are not built to safely handle large files. Your data may become corrupt and is at risk for system crashes.)

•You have Advanced Inventory needs (multiple warehouses, serial #/lot # tracking, FIFO accounting, barcode scanning).

•Your # of list items > 10,000 (this includes customers, vendors, employees, other names, items and your Chart of Accounts).

•You want to combine financial reporting for multiple companies.

•You need Enhanced user permissions to give access to only what is desired for each user.

•You have people in the field servicing customers/equipment and need an integrated Field Service Management system for dispatching, scheduling and collecting payment.

If any of these apply to your business, consider QuickBooks Enterprise to handle your growing accounting needs.  BottomLine Consulting is happy to conduct a free needs assessment and counsel you as to the best solution for your business.  An efficient and integrated workflow system will help you Better Your Bottom Line!

Not All QuickBooks “Experts” Are The Same!

Everyone says they “know QuickBooks”. When you need help, how do you find the right help for your particular need?

Here are 3 questions you should ask to ensure you get the support you need:

#1: Ask yourself – “What problem do I need to solve in my QuickBooks?”
Do you need data entry? Better reporting to help you manage your business? Cleanup of your data that you suspect may be incorrect? Tax advice? New setup and installation? Streamlining of your accounting processes? They are many reasons people seek help with QuickBooks. Be clear on what exactly you are looking for before you start your search.

#2: Ask the QuickBooks expert – “Are you Certified?”

They may not even know that Intuit (the maker of QuickBooks) has a membership program called the ProAdvisor program. ProAdvisors have access to training and certification in all the modules of the QuickBooks software. ProAdvisors are NOT REQUIRED to take the exam; so if someone is certified that indicates a deeper understanding of QuickBooks. Only 30% of ProAdvisors are certified. In addition, there is a higher level of certification called Advanced Certification. This exam is only available to ProAdvisors who have been certified in each version for the past three years. It is a very difficult and
extensive exam - only 3% of all ProAdvisors are Advanced Certified. This should give you a good idea of their experience and their commitment to what they do. If they are certified, you should be able to find them on Intuit’s referral website.

#3: Ask the QuickBooks expert – “What is the focus of your business?”
Among Certified ProAdvisors, you will find CPAs, Bookkeepers, CFOs, and Consultants. Each has a particular concentration in their business. CPAs focus on tax preparation; Bookkeepers focus on data entry and maintenance of the books; CFOs focus on big picture needs like exit strategy, debt financing, financial ratios, etc. Consultants can streamline your workflow, provide custom reporting to be used as a management tool, fix damaged files and do advanced troubleshooting.

The “expert’s” business focus should match the need you defined in Question #1.

Although asking these questions will not guarantee expert service, it surely will help you narrow down your choices for getting your problem solved.
